First Things First

You’re thinking about hiring somebody to help you produce a podcast, so that suggests you’re at least a little serious about getting great results. There’s an important first question that gets worded in tons of flowery ways by various people, but we’re going to just boil it down to the simplest possible terms:

Do You Have A Budget For This?

We’re not asking because we’re seeking to separate you from your money; instead, one of the first things you need to establish for a new podcast is what your goals are, and whether you can achieve those goals using methods you can afford.

So… do you have a budget for this project?

If It’s ‘No’…

One of the biggest barriers to entry for new podcasters – particularly “hobby podcasters” – is the perception that podcasting is inherently expensive, like taking up golf.

It doesn’t have to be.

There’s nothing wrong with not having a budget. What this suggests to us is that your primary concern is just getting your ideas out there. You’re not concerned about building a website for your show, doing a social media strategy, acquiring a bunch of gear and obsessing over lights and cameras for the videos you’re doing to promote the show.

You mostly need someone to guide you in getting started, or if you’re already established you need someone who can do basic audio editing, processing and the week-to-week technical “stuff”, so that really all you need to do is sit down and talk.

If It’s ‘Yes’…

Being a “hobby podcaster” is terrific. It means you’re doing it for the fun of it. But once you start thinking about things like building websites, growing and monetizing your audience, social media strategies, video, links to products and myriad other elements, you’ve moved over to the territory of, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat.

You’ll be looking for a more fulsome strategy, more sophisticated tools, and a larger investment of time to get the results you’re seeking.

Either way, we’re ready to help.

Choose Your Adventure

Note that the terms “Hobby” and “Professional” below are not indicators of the quality of your show, or our level of effort, or the quality of the finished product. Like it says on the “Overview” tab, it’s strictly about what your goals for your podcast are.

Additionally, we’re trying to reduce some of the barriers to entry for new hobby podcasters to get their voices heard. So our rates for launching new hobby shows are ridiculously low.

The most important thing, after all, is to just start.

Professional & Corporate Podcasters

Our experience has been that professional and corporate podcasts require approaches that are as diverse as the companies themselves. So for us, the best approach starts with a conversation where we get the full depth and breadth of what you’re trying to achieve, and encourage you to “dream big”.

Then we can determine what resources we’ll need to bring to the table to make it happen with you.

And the ideas are yours to keep, whether we end up working together or not!

It likely won’t surprise you to find that we get a number of requests for these consultation sessions, so all we ask is that until we’re up and running, you cover our time.
